Some ideas come from a brainstorming session. Others come from a fluffy face with soulful eyes, a wagging tail, and a personality too big to keep to yourself.
That’s exactly how Lola the Sheepadoodle Coloring Adventure came to life.
Lola isn’t just our family dog—she’s the heart of countless memories, daily laughter, and unconditional love. Like most Sheepadoodles, she’s equal parts playful, curious, and wonderfully goofy. One minute she’s zooming around the yard with endless energy, and the next she’s snuggled up beside us, reminding everyone that the simplest moments are often the most meaningful.
Over the years, Lola has become more than a pet. She’s become family. Her lovable personality and playful antics sparked an idea that kept growing—what if children and fellow dog lovers could experience the world through Lola’s eyes?
That’s when the journey to create Lola the Sheepadoodle Coloring Adventure began.
Dreaming Up Lola's Adventures
One of the most enjoyable parts of creating this coloring book was imagining all the adventures Lola would love to experience. Every page started with a simple question: “If Lola could go anywhere or do anything, what would make her tail wag the most?”
The answers came naturally.
Some ideas were inspired by Lola’s everyday life—playing fetch, making new dog friends, exploring outside, or curling up with a favorite toy. Others came from imagining the exciting places she might visit and the fun activities she might try if her adventures had no limits. Before long, the possibilities seemed endless.
I found myself creating storylines around each scene, picturing Lola at the beach chasing waves, splashing in a pool on a warm summer day, enjoying a camping trip, celebrating holidays, exploring nature, or spending time with friends. Every new idea became another opportunity to showcase her curious spirit and playful personality.
Creating a Book Filled with Joy
Rather than simply filling pages with random pictures, I wanted every scene to tell a small story. Each adventure was thoughtfully planned to capture the happiness, excitement, and sense of wonder that Lola brings into our lives every day.
As I brainstormed each page, I imagined the smiles these adventures might bring to children as they colored them. I wanted every illustration to encourage creativity and allow young artists to imagine their own stories about where Lola might go next.
Choosing which adventures made it into the final book wasn’t easy. There were so many fun possibilities that narrowing them down became one of the biggest challenges. But that also means there are plenty of future adventures waiting for Lola!
More Than a Coloring Book
This project became much more than creating pages to color.
It became a celebration of everything that makes Lola so special.
Every adventure reflects her playful spirit, joyful energy, and ability to make even ordinary moments feel extraordinary. While many of the scenes are imaginative, they’re all inspired by the happiness and love Lola brings to our family every single day.
My hope is that families will gather around the table with crayons, colored pencils, or markers and bring Lola’s adventures to life with their own creativity. Creating Lola the Sheepadoodle Coloring Adventure has been an incredibly rewarding experience, not only because it celebrates a dog we love so much, but because it allowed me to imagine a world full of fun, friendship, and adventure through Lola’s eyes.
